Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists work with patients to achieve a maximum level of independence in activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, grooming and feeding. The goal of our treatment is to increase independence and teach compensatory techniques to perform daily living tasks. Therapy can occur in an occupational therapy clinic area, at the patient’s bedside or during community outings.
Occupational therapists conduct an extensive patient assessment process, which enables them to evaluate a patient’s improvement in areas specific to the patient’s treatment goals.
Occupational therapy assessments can include an evaluation of the following:
- Activities of daily living
- Upper extremity strength and range of motion
- Perceptual and cognitive abilities
- Developmental progression
- Driving ability
- Pain
