About Us
The Palliative Care department at Sacred Heart Hospital was established in 2000 with the sole mission of helping patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Palliative Care tends to the whole person and family – aiming to meet physical, emotional, social, financial and spiritual needs.
Our services are free of charge and are open to anyone who has a life-limiting, advanced illness or injury, whether active treatment has been completed or is just beginning. We fill in the blanks for issues that other caregivers might not be monitoring, such as whether or not an advance directive is available or how people are emotionally dealing with the end-of-life journey.
Our palliative care team is comprised of an advanced practice nurse certified in hospice and palliative nursing, a spiritual counselor licensed in marriage and family therapy, a clinical social worker and a physician board-certified in palliative medicine. We see an average of 65 to 70 patients a month and are the only palliative care program in western Wisconsin.
