The Center for Imaging at Sacred Heart Hospital provides you with a complete range of diagnostic imaging services. Our Radiology Department performs about 90,000 procedures per year, ranging from standard X-rays to advanced nuclear medicine imaging.
Our Center – the most comprehensive between Minneapolis and Madison – offers state-of-the-art technology staffed by 10 distinguished radiologists, eight qualified nurses and 65 dedicated technologists and clerical staff. Our sophisticated equipment yields the most accurate diagnostic results possible, which translates to faster treatments and improved outcomes for you.
We are continually staying abreast of current technological trends to better our service line and enhance your treatment options, and we proudly bring several “firsts” to the area:
- We are the only hospital in the region to offer the Dual Source CT scanner, which offers unrivaled three-dimensional imaging quality, enabling physicians to detect tumors and malformations with absolute accuracy - in a shorter time frame and with less radiation than a standard CT scan. The Dual Source eliminates the need for a biopsy or exploratory surgery in some cases, and is the latest advance in clinical CT technology. Cancer can be detected early which means a better chance for survival.
- We are the only hospital in the region to offer the 3.0 Tesla high-definition magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine, which boasts the highest possible resolution, fast scanning times and other high-level applications.
- We offer western Wisconsin’s only use of the life-saving MERCI Retrieval System. In emergency stroke cases, this technology provides hope when the window of opportunity for conventional drug therapy intervention has closed.
- We’re the only hospital in the area to perform intra-arterial cerebral thrombolysis, a life-saving procedure that attacks blood clots in the brain.
In addition to our state-of-the-art equipment, we present to you a comfortable and convenient physical facility. Redesigned in 2007, our Center for Imaging has special areas for inpatients and outpatients, including a separate, covered entrance with convenient parking right outside our Center’s doors. We also have a welcoming new waiting area, designed for enhanced privacy. We even have a designated waiting area for our gowned patients, away from public view, and we have plans for a dedicated space for our Women’s Health Center.
