Workplace Wellness
With healthcare costs and insurance premiums continually rising, we believe the future of medicine lies in preventative care. That philosophy is the crux of our Workplace Wellness program.
Available to employers in the Chippewa Valley, our wellness program is structured to:
- Improve employee health
- Reduce absenteeism
- Increase productivity
- Lower health care costs
- Decrease worker compensation costs
- Reduce and prevent illness
- Supplement health benefits
- Increase employee and customer satisfaction
- Create a positive culture that promotes wellness
- Help recruit and retain top talent and become an employer of choice
- Expand the work/life balance of employees
Using screenings, intervention and educational programs, our program provides all the tools necessary to improve employees’ quality of life and help them become better-informed health care decision-makers. In time, the end result for employers is lower company costs.
How it works
Each participant is asked to complete a health appraisal and complete a biometric screening, which records their cholesterol and glucose levels, blood pressure, height, weight, body fat composition and body mass index. This allows us to evaluate the employee’s current health status and provide a basis for future comparison. If any numbers are higher than recommended, we will encourage the participant to see his or her primary care physician for further evaluation.
The assessment also identifies problem areas and helps guide the person toward healthier lifestyle choices. Employers will receive an annual summary of this data.
Next steps
Throughout the program year, wellness participants are invited to participate in a sampling of Center for Healthy Living offerings. They receive “punch cards” to track their attendance. Employers determine how many “punches” participants need to be eligible for incentives and prizes. Some employers, for example, offer reductions in health insurance premiums to employees who meet their requirements.
The goal
Wellness programs serve many purposes. We believe the biggest is helping employees develop a better understanding of the relationship between health and lifestyle choices. When this happens, everyone wins. Employees are more fit and health conscious, and companies enjoy cost savings from their healthier, more engaged workforce.
