About Us

The Pediatrics Department at Sacred Heart Hospital cares for young people at every stage of development, newborns through high school. We are a seven-bed unit working closely with area physicians to provide expert medical and surgical care to the pediatric population.

To make a hospitalization as inviting and home-like as possible, our department is decorated with kid-friendly themes, and all of our pediatric rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, television, DVD player and couch that converts to a bed for family members. We encourage parents to stay with their children, if possible. We also suggest bringing along items from home that might make the child feel more secure or comfortable, such as a favorite blanket, toy or stuffed animal.

We want our patients to feel welcome when they visit our department. They will receive a stuffed animal or toy upon their arrival, and we have video games available for use as they recover. For those staying with us for prolonged hospitalizations, we will work with their school to ensure that they don’t fall behind with homework and other tasks.

Seventeen experienced registered nurses and additional support personnel staff our department. We have certified pediatric nurses as well as many others certified in pediatric advanced life support. Our nursing staff works closely with board-certified pediatricians and family practice physicians to bring our patients the best care possible.

We follow a family-centered, multidisciplinary approach with our patients. Respiratory care specialists; physical, speech and occupational therapists; social workers; discharge planners; nurses; and physicians are all a part of our team.

We are dedicated to children here – and committed to restoring our youngest patients back to health as quickly as possible.
